Gate - Thus the JSDF Fought There! Wiki

The Blitzkrieg or Lightning War Tactic had its origins during the Second World War on Earth, when the German Army used combined mechanized ground forces, along with air support to break through the enemy line with short, powerful and fast attacks, catching the opposing forces off-guard and making it difficult for them to respond. Once they maneuver behind the enemy positions, the attacking forces can launch their assault. As a result, enemy forces which are cut off from the main body are immediately destroyed. The outcome is a collapsed defensive line and loss of territory.

The strategy is still valid in modern warefare and has proven to be extremely effective against armies that still cling to outdated formations and tactics, such as the Imperial Army .The JSDF use this very strategy in order to open up a route to retake Sadera

JSDF and Allies[]

  • Initial bombing of outposts, bridges and roads to disrupt Imperial lines of communication, supply, reinforcements and to cause 'Shock and Awe' effect to demoralize Imperial troops.
  • Follow up of artillery and air raids to further demoralize Imperial troops and finish off whatever remaining anti-aircraft, Wyvern Corp or heavy Imperial forces.
  • Mechanized forces including tanks and other armored vehicles move in through stratetgic areas to attack any remaining defenders and secure their objectives.
  • Jets and helicopters continue their support for the ground forces.
  • Final objective is to annihilate all of Zorzal 's military power and eventually capture Sadera

Imperial Army[]

  • Complete and utter confusion due to the bombings and air strikes. Communication is slow and ineffective with little to no supply to the defenders. Reaction to initial attack is virtually non-existent.
  • Due to the oppressive and brutal scare tactics of the  Oprichnina, troops are unable to retreat or fall back to more defensive positions and are forced into suicidal frontal attacks against the JSDF's superior firepower. Massive casualities to the dwindling Imperial Army.
  • Counterattack ordered for Wyvern Corps and Armored Ogres. Wyvern Riders drop white powder on tanks to 'blind' them while Ogres attempt to destroy the tanks.
  • Battering rams used with the intent to immobilize the tanks. Complete failure due to the Imperial Army's lack of understanding how a tank works, and the precaution by the JSDF to protect their tank treads with side skirts and logs. Armored Ogres are killed or wounded by tank shells and those that are wounded, cause them to flail wildly at the Imperials, causing 'friendly-fire casualties.'
  • Battering rams are destroyed by the tanks as more Imperial postions are overrun.
  • Wyvern Corps attempt to destroy or slow down the armored vehicles with javelins, primitive incendiary bombs and rocks. No effect on the tanks and only minor damage to lightly-armored vehicles. Most Wyvern Corp riders are either killed or desert.
  • Imperial Army almost ceases to exist as most are either killed, captured or desert. Many deserters are killed by civilians who were victims of the Empire's Scorched Earth policy.
